Le Pigalle with kisses_edited.jpg

Original artwork & limited edition Giclée prints

Le Pigalle is an authentic neighbourhood hotel, in the vibrant cultural and gastronomic Pigalle district of Paris. A neon light in the Parisian landscape, Pigalle represents the best of the city’s hedonistic tradition, with a history of attracting “bad boys” (and girls), artists, musicians and adventurers. With neither a monument or significant meeting point, the area lacked a place that reflected its brazen spirit and musical energy. Le Pigalle was born, a hotel bar and cafe  whose history was shaped by the cultural mix that swirls on the southern slopes of Montmartre.

This season Jenna Elsby Studio proudly collaborates with Le Pigalle to create a small collection of original works that embody the unique spirit and character of this colourful and quirky artistic destination.

The collection is born from the idea that as night falls in the neighbourhood of Le Pigalle, all the artists, performers and dreamers come alive. It celebrates a dark and seductive side to old Paris, where girls transfixed audiences with their feminine guiles and the air was filled with music, sex, romance and dance.

It's also about the performance of femininity - the idea that when you throw on those heels (To Be A Showgirl) you become powerful, another persona emerges, the showgirl in all of us.

It's turning the idea of the "male gaze" on it's head and celebrating the notion of dressing up and being "sexy" for yourself not for anyone else. Femme Fatale is a hero piece within the collection, depicting three female forms - the boss, the showgirl and the socialite - the multifaceted and multidimensional external experience of being a woman.
